Does skin color make a difference in the results?
No, the skin color does not make a difference in the results. We are able to effectively treat unwanted hair on any skin type.
What are the treatments like?
Gentle Yag laser delivers light energy in a non-invasive manner to hundreds of hair follicles simultaneously. A pulse of light is delivered to an area of the skin. The laser treatment may last a few minutes to an hour or more, depending on the size of the area being treated. We can remove hair from all parts of the body including but not limited to cheeks, legs, arms, underarms, and back.
Are treatments painful?
Some patients experience a mild sting or pinch. It can feel like a small snap of a rubber band. No local anesthesia or pain medication is required, however, we do provide a topical anesthesia cream that may be applied to skin one hour prior to treatment to make your visit as comfortable as possible.
How many treatments are required?
A minimum of 6 - 8 treatments is recommended. Some factors include hair density, and your own hair’s growth cycle. Age, diet, ethnicity, weight, hormones, medication, and metabolism all may effect your hair’s location, thickness, and resilience.
Are there any side effects?
Short -term side effects may include redness and swelling around the hair follicle, which indicates that, the hair follicle has responded to the treatment. Most people return to normal activity directly after the procedure. Side effects disappear within hours of treatment.
Are there any precautions or restrictions after treatment?
After treatment, you may return to normal activities. Sunscreen must be used on any treated areas exposed to the sun. Limiting sun exposure is recommended.
How should I prepare for my treatment?
Patients scheduled for hair removal should avoid plucking, electrolysis, or hair waxing for six weeks prior to treatment. Any hair should be completely removed by shaving 24 hours prior and your skin should be thoroughly cleansed and dried, removing any makeup, creams, oils, or topical anesthetic before laser treatment. The intended treatment area should not be exposed to sunlight or tanning booth light for 14 days prior to treatment.
